If quality is your priority in the kitchen – and it should be – you should consider stocking up on Damascus steel kitchen knives. Not only are they the most attractive option, but they also offer exceptional quality, durability, and strength.
However, we understand the best things in life don’t come for free – nor are they cheap – so rather than only offering large, extensive knife sets, the Bamboo Guy has a variety of Damascus kitchen knives available to you. That way, you can get yourself exactly what you need – whether you’re replacing something that’s broken or building up your knife collection slowly but surely. Either way, we’ve got you covered!
But, before you can start shopping for the best Damascus steel kitchen knives, we’re going to give you a quick explanation of what Damascus steel is and why everyone should have a good, Japanese Damascus kitchen knife in their kitchen.
What is Damascus Steel?
Damascus steel is a very special type of metal that is carefully crafted by means of a process called pattern welding. It involves layering different types of metal and using heat to secure them, eventually producing a solid block. From there, you can cut out the blade.
The name Damascus steel, however, hails back to ancient Syrian times, but modern Damascus steel is different from its namesake. This is because the original method was lost and forgotten sometime during the 18th century, and the method used today is more of hybrid process created by blacksmiths in the 19th century to try and replicate the original method as far as possible.
We’ll never know exactly how close the modern-day Damascus kitchen knives is to the ancient type, but either way, you’re sure to get fabulous quality from the Bamboo Guy’s range.
Why You Should Get Your Hands on Damascus Steel Kitchen Knives
As we said, Damascus steel is incredibly strong and durable, so they’re likely to last a lot longer than many other types of materials. The blades are tough and sharp, and they look attractive too.
Now, Damascus steel is, admittedly, a little pricier than some other materials, but for good reason. Not only is the quality exceptional, but the steel is difficult and time consuming to produce. Because of the unique process involved in layering the different metals, every single blade ends up being unique, boasting a special pattern.
If you want the whole lot, you can buy the set. But, the Bamboo Guy also sells Damascus steel knives separately, so if you’re looking for something specific, or if you plan on building up your collection over time, you can do exactly that with our collection.
